Chesapeake BMX in Full Swing
The track in Severn, MD has been recently reconstructed with the masterful Racers Edge front man Mike Hartlove steering the loader. The track is bad ace and with two races run the feedback continues to be all positive. Check out www.chesapeakebmx.com for directions and get out there for some gates. Can you believe the weather? With the sun shinning it's made the early season a popular one, the parking lot has been packed on Sundays for sure.

GT/Racers Edge Jerseys

Check the new 2012 design...
Racer's Edge, Inc. Sports Marketing Manager, Don Hampton (DH Productions), made the trip to the GT headquaters in Bethel, CT. and presented a small token of appreciation for the continued support of our program. Mark Peterman (General Manager - Left ) and Tyler Barrnes ( Dir. of Marketing - Right ) hold a framed jersey from the 2010-2011 programs, where the team consistantly finished in the top 10% of all competition. GT has stepped it up another notch with their commitment to BMX racing for 2012 and we are honored to, again, be a part of their program. Look for the new 2012 GT/Racer's Edge Jerseys to be in the front of a moto near you!

NBL Battlefield Nationals
The Racer's Edge/GT team traveled to Petersburg, Va. on April 2-3 for the first outdoor National of the season. The weather was super windy and chilly on Saturday but that did not stop the squad from earning it's first team win of the year! Sunday, the team was honored to lead the parade lap and despite the better weather would have to settle for a fifth out of 18 teams....not a bad weekend! Pics below courtesy of Marty Wastler.

Carl Harney is looking strong in 10 Challenger.
Northeast Regional Championship
Lexington, Va .
Last weekend the NBL hosted the first of four Northeast Regional
Championship race weekends in Lexington, Va.
Mike Hartlove went down early Wednesday morning to help with the track
build and set up. Eric Bress had the majority of the track shaped by the
time Mike got there and it was looking good.
After two straight days of raking, watering and rolling, the track was
dialed for racing. By Friday morning there was little left to do other
than hang some banners and set up the pit areas. After Friday's
practice, most of the team decided to get some dinner and rest for
Saturday. Only the Harney's would stay for the pre-race, as they
dominated the feild.
Saturday the vibe was great. Everyone was digging the track and ready to
battle. Erica, Austin and Carl Harney all won their classes and were
solid scores on the team sheet. Billy Hartlove was set up for a perfect
score but drew gate seven in the main and would have to settle for
second in his 20" class. Mike Hummel also scored a second along with Anthony Jefferson in 35-39 and 40-44 cruiser.
The team finished 5th on the day in the combined competition and joined
in Sunday morning's parade lap.
The Harney's all seemed to exhaust themselves Saturday as each of them
dropped to second on Sunday - still a terrific effort! Billy was again
looking for the elusive perfect only to have the same exact result as
Satuday. Mark Bell decided to build his new GT Speed Series and test it
out on Sunday. After some tweaking, he got things right and slayed it,
finishing a disputed third.
All in all, an awesome weekend was enjoyed by all. There will be some
down time until the next event and the team will certainly be training
hard until then.

Thanksgiving Classic...better late then never...
Morristown Tenn.
The 2011 NBL National Series has kicked off with a bang! The NBL Thanksgiving Classic drew nearly 200 motos while the ABA Grands were going on in Oklahoma. Combined, over 4000 people were racing BMX the weekend after Thanksgiving. Think it's safe to say "BMX racing is alive and kicking"
The Racer's Edge/GT squad descended upon Morristown with 30+ racers. The team, without several of their top riders, did exceptionally well, finishing 8th out of 20 on Sat. and 5th out of 20 on Sunday. The next stop is Columbus, OH. for the Christmas Classic, where the team hope to crack the top three.
Thanks to Nick McIntosh for the photos.

Racer's Edge Team Building Weekend
Wisp Resort, Nov. 13-14, 2010
This past weekend, the Racer's Edge/GT team hosted a team building weekend in, beautiful, Garrett County, Maryland.
The weekend's activities started Saturday morning with trampoline jumping, mini motocross and four wheeler riding at the Hartlove's. After Smiley's pizza for lunch, the group made the three-minute trip over to the fabulous Wisp Resort, where we were treated like royalty. Team members enjoyed mountain coaster rides, canopy tours and ice skating on a 65 degree day.
After a long afternoon at Wisp, we returned to the Hartlove compound for an all star cook-out, courtesy of Christi and Mike.
The day ended with an awesome bonfire, where we held our first team meeting of the 2011 season. Meeting minutes are being sent out to all members unable to attend.
Sunday morning came quick and the kids were ready to ride moto's again before 7am. After a gourmet breakfast, the little kids rode moto while the big kids wrapped up the business at hand. From there, we made the short trip over to Smiley's for lunch, where again, we were treated like royalty. Teammates participated in a sinister round of laser tag, played video games and rallied the go-carts. By 2pm we were saying our good-byes and counting the days until we converge on Morristown, Tenn. for the first NBL National of the 2011 season.
A very special thanks goes out to Michael Valach at Wisp Resort, Megan Redinger at Smiley's, and, of coarse, Marty Wastler for the photos. Can't wait to see you all in Tennessee and kick off our best season yet! For more information on the best resort in the mid-Atlantic, check out www.WispResort.com
2010 Season in a Nut Shell
As the 2010 season draws to an end, the Racer's Edge team of riders, parents, volunteers, supporters, and dreamers wishes to acknowledge a few of our 2010 season highlights.
We have maintained our 12 yr. presence on the Mountain Bike circuit with just a few riders competing. Kevin Liebig made it on to the podium at every slalom he raced. Dave Mock competed, as a pro, in the US Championships in Colorado. Locally, Phil Cook and Tom Schuler dominated their classes while Mike Hummel won the overall series at Seven Springs.
The BMX team had a stellar debut year. The team finished 12th out of nearly 70 teams in the team NBL competition. Several riders achieved amazing personal results as well. Tom Kuehn (35-39 Cruiser), Jordan Bell (9 girls) and Casey Wasler (14 Nov.) each won the Northeast Regional championships. Kyle and Alex Kuhen both won the ABA Redline Cup. Anthony Jefferson (40-44 cruiser) Improved to National #2 after a serious battle for #1 which ended in the main at the grands. Christi Hartlove 35-39 W Cruiser.) earned national #3, Mike Hummel (35-39 Cruiser) earned national #7 and the most accomplished rider this season, Chris Bryan (25-29 cruiser and 20") earned the National #1 as well as the NBL Big "A" title. 90 % of the team earned a national number and improved last year's ranking.
The 5th annual BikeToberJam was a late season celebration for all the team riders and several newcomers. Held in conjunction with the Hereford Fall and Wine festival, the event drew nearly 300 racer's and spectators and enticed more than 20 new riders to test their skills on the Dual track. Surprise guests included Jim DeChamp and Special Greg from the Nitro Circus, who generously gave away autographed posters to all the kids.

2010 NBL Grand National
Derby City BMX Louisville, KY:
Thanks to all the team members who made the long trip out and to Marty Wastler for the awesome pics.
The team finished 12th on the weekend and 12th out of 66 teams overall for the year. Not too bad for our first year program.

604 Anthony Jefferson was hungry for the #1 and it all would come down to the main. Randy Bitnitis would claim the title and Jefferson would have to settle for #2 in the 40-44 cruisers - one of the biggest classes of the event.
